Alumni and Friends of LCHS Upcoming Events Planned for 2009.

January 25th, 2009

Come out and play!

In our efforts to continue to serve and bring Classical Alumni together and stay connected, make new connections, and to continue support for the Alumni Scholarship Program, The Alumni and Friends of Lynn Classical High School Inc. is planning a number of social events for 2009. We have been amazed at the number of connections we have seen happen through this web site, through Facebook and our Alumni Facebook Page. Old friends have been reunited and new friendships have been forged. Why stop there? It is our hope now to be able to bring Alumni together, old and new, through social events and fund raisers. These events are an important part of our efforts to raise funds to continue to support and help current Classical students realize their dreams of a better life through education – and have a great time doing it.

When and What

  • An “All Classes Gathering” in May for a Classical community get together
  • A golf tournament in June to benefit the Scholarship Fund
  • A Classical comedy night in the Fall just for fun

Additional information regarding these events will be posted here on the Alumni website as it becomes available.

Interested in these events? Show your support by sharing your comments or ideas here on our site, and don’t forget to spread the word!

Alumni and Friends of Lynn Classical High School Scholarship Program

January 8th, 2009

We Need Your Support

In the past five years, thanks to the support and contributions of LCHS Alumni and Friends, we have distributed $271,978 in Scholarships to graduating seniors of Lynn Classical High School. Although our efforts to continue this trend are as strong as ever, the ability to sustain the scholarship program is suffering due to the increased cost and expenses needed run supporting programs and Newsletters. We are appealing to you for your assistance in helping Classical Graduates to a better life by receiving a strong educational foundation and an opportunity for education beyond high school.

Because of the fine education we received at Classical, many of us have gone on to be productive members of our communities. We have become Doctors, Lawyers, Educators, Police, Nurses, Firefighters, as well as many Graduates who have made their mark in government, private industry and business. You are the very people that we need to give back to deserving students of your high school alma mater, Lynn Classical High School.

If you have already assisted us in supporting Classical students, we thank you and ask you to continue your generous support. To our Life Members, we continue to thank you for your generous past support.

Please answer our appeal in one of the following ways:

  • If you are already an Alumni Member, please renew it for the coming year.

Classical Graduate, Clark Casteel, Advances Holistic Medicine in Georgia

January 5th, 2009

Clark Casteel, Class of ‘85’, has been a licensed practicing Acupuncturist in the state of Georgia since 2000. Clark played a crucial role in the struggle to have Acupuncture recognized as a legitimate field of medical science in Georgia. In 1999, Clark was an active member in “Georgia Friends for Acupuncture”. The group’s goal was to have Acupuncture recognized as a scientific branch of medicine and be licensed in the State of Georgia . Clark and the group’s work met with success in 2000 when Georgia became the 48th State to license Acupuncturists. Clark, in fact, became the second person to be licensed in Georgia as an Acupuncturist.

Following graduation from Classical, Clark entered the University of New Hampshire graduating in 1989 with a B.A. Degree in History and a Minor in Art and Environmental Studies. In 1995, Clark was awarded a Diploma in Acupuncture from the National Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Also in 1995, he was recognized as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine by the State of New Mexico.

Clark and Maureen, his wife of 10 years, are now living in Georgia with their three children Annalise 16, Michael 4, and Benjaimin 5.

Searching for the oldest living graduate of LCHS

January 2nd, 2009

Better With Age

They say some things get better with age – Wine , Cheese, the finer things in life. If that’s true, then we must have some pretty extraordinary Lynn Classical Alumni out there and we’d like to hear from them.

The Search Is On

We are looking for the oldest living graduate of Lynn Classical high School. If you graduated from Classical before 1938 or know of a living alumna who did, we want to hear from you.

Please leave a comment here on our web site or send us an email to classicalalumni@lynnclassicalalumni.org

The Official Alumni Facebook Page

January 1st, 2009

The Alumni and Friends of Lynn Classical High School is officially represented on Facebook with a brand new Facebook Page.

The Transition

Alumni and Friends of LCHS was originally established as a Group on Facebook. Groups, however, have limitations set by Facebook and do not provide what is need for an organization like ours to be properly represented. So, we have created an “official” organization page and transferred all the original members from the Group to the Page. The Alumni “group” will be closed and all further Alumni and Friends activity with Facebook will be conducted through the Alumni Facebook page.

The Facebook Page will act as an extension of the Alumni Web Site to help locate and connect Classical Alumni and Friends across the Web.

We hope you will visit us at our Web Site and on Facebook often to stay informed about events, announcements and news surrounding the LCHS Alumni community.
